Install Official Android 4.0.4 ICS XWLPM Update Galaxy S2 I9100

Today our tutorial How to Install Official Android 4.0.4 ICS XWLPM Firmware Update on Galaxy S2 GT-i9100. Samsung Galaxy S2 got the Android 4.0.3 Official firmware update in March 2012 that has many bugs and users were waiting for the latest updates to fix the issues. Samsung has recently released latest Android 4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich ICS XWLPM firmware in July 2012. Right now, this new update is available over the air OTA to Users in Russia and some parts of Europe region. It will be available for US and Asian users very soon. You can install it right now manually as the stock firmware rom is available in an Odin flash able package. There is no country or region specific limit for this update. Every Galaxy S2 international users can install it without any problems.
The previous Galaxy S2 Android 4.0.3 XXLPJ and XXLPQ updates has some issues with screen rotation, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and battery performance. The new update claims to fix these issues and provided better battery performance. The UI seems to be updated and you will feel a smooth scrolling experience. There are few more enhancements with music player and Google Play store stability.

Pre-requisite:

1. Required International Samsung Galaxy S2 GT-I9100 device. Please don’t follow this guide if your device is another model Galaxy S2 GT-I9100G.
2. In this method you have to backup some precious data such as Contacts, SMS, Call Logs, Images, Videos, Songs, MMS and APN Settings, etc.
3. Then, make sure Galaxy S II battery is charged to 80% so it won’t switch off during the process.
4. Now, you need to enable your USB Debugging option by navigating to the path ‘Settings > Applications > Development > USB debugging’
5. Disable all security suites such as firewall or antivirus package must be disabled before you start updating your Galaxy S2 through this process as they can cause interruption in the flashing process.
6. Download USB drivers for all Samsung Galaxy Devices from 32-bit here and 64-bit here. If you already installed compatible device drivers in your PC through Samsung Kies. Then you can skip this step. If you didn’t installed the drivers then your device will not recognize by the PC at the time of Odin flashing.

Follow this Guide, steps and Instructions to Install and Update your Galaxy S2 with Official Android 4.0.4 ICS XWLPM firmware.

1. Download the XXLPM Firmware zip package file from here to your PC. The file name is I9100XWLPM_I9100OXELP8_SER.zip and size will be 510 MB.

2. After downloading the zip file. Extract it by using either winzip or winrar. Once extracted the file, you will get file with name like this I9100XWLPM_I9100OXELP8_I9100XXLQ6_HOME.tar.md5.

3. Download Odin 1.85 flash tool from here to your Computer and extract the zip file.

4. Open the extracted zip file and launch Odin application in the PC.

5. Then, turn off your Galaxy device and reboot it to enter into download mode just by holding the Volume Down + Home + Power buttons simultaneously till you see a warning message on your screen. Then, press the Volume up button to get into download mode.

6. When you will be in your download mode, connect your device to the Computer via USB data cable. As soon as the device is connected, the Odin will automatically recognize you device, which can be verified by the ID: COM section which turn yellow if device driver is installed correctly and it detect the device.

7. Then, go for PDA tab and select the I9100XWLPM_I9100OXELP8_I9100XXLQ6_HOME.tar.md5 file from the extracted folder in step 2.
8. You are requested not to make any changes other than PDA section. Once you are confirm about that go and click on Start button for starting the update process. After the completion of the installation process, you device will reboot automatically and display a PASS Green message.

9. Then, disconnect your device from the Computer and reboot it in recovery mode. For that you must press and hold Home + Volume Up + Power keys together.

10. After getting into the stock recovery mode, you need to clear the data by choosing ‘wipe data/factory reset’, this you can confirm by tapping ‘Yes’ on the next screen.

11. Then, select the ‘+++Go Back+++’ > ‘Reboot System Now’ option to restart your Galaxy S II.

Note: If your Odin hangs in any step or it display the FAIL message then you need to unplug your device from the Computer and take out the battery and place it back to its previous position, close the Odin and repeat the process again from step 4.

How to Get More Ram on Galaxy S Cyanogenmod CM10 Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean and CM 9 ICS 4.0.4 Custom ROM.

Make sure that your custom rom is loaded with devil kernel or not. For that you can check Go to Settings->About Phone. Scroll down there you can see kernel version of present rom.
Note: So if your custom rom is loaded with different kernel then you need to change it into devil kernel version.

1. Download below zip files based on your Android OS.

For ICS get here.(file name Devil3_1.0.3-ICS_i9000_CFS_BLN_CMC_20120724.zip and you can also check latest kernel version and download it)
For JB get here. ( file version 1.0.4)

2. Copy the zip file into phone sd card.

3. Turn off the device and boot into recovery mode. For that you need to press and hold Volume Up + Home + Power button together.

4. When you enter into clockworkmod recovery mode. Select the “install zip from sd card” choose the kernel zip file which you copied earlier in your phone sd card storage.

5. The kernel flashing process will take 1 min. After that reboot the device. That’s it done now your device is fully working with devil kernel.

Note: The Above process is only for who don’t have devil kernel in their Custom Rom. If you’re custom rom is already loaded with devil kernel that you can avoid above process.

Follow below steps:

1. Download devil kernel config app from Google Play here or you can get apk from here.

2. After installing the app on Galaxy S device. Go to app list section there you can see an icon with devil logo and of that app is devil kernel configure.
2. Open the application there you can get Ram Settings Option.
3. Click on it and it will show you three options of ram CM9 368 MB, XL 391 MB and last one big mem 403 Mb. Select Big mem 403 MB to make it done.
4. On the top right side. Click on setup and it will ask you to save the ram settings.
5. When you finalized the settings it indicates to restart the phone in order to make the changes.

6. After rebooting the device. Open the task manager there you will get 403 MB of Ram.
Finally you unlocked more ram on Galaxy S Device running Cyanogenmod 10 Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean ROM.

5. Enable USB Debugging in your Huawei Ideos X5 U8800 Pro from the path “Settings > Applications > Development > USB debugging”. The option of USB Debugging should be ticked.
6. There is no need of rooting the device for installing this rom.

Steps and Procedure to Install Official Android 4.0.3 Ice Cream Sandwich firmware on Huawei Ideos X5 U8800 Pro:

1. Download the Official Ice Cream Sandwich firmware package for your Ideos X5 U8800 Pro device from here to your computer. The file name was HUAWEI Ideos X5 firmware( U8800pro_Android 4.0_V100R001C00B926_Normal).zip and size will be 356MB.

2. Now, connect your device to the PC via original USB cable. Make sure you have all necessary drivers installed in your PC for your device.

3. Extract the downloaded zip file then you will get dload folder and copy that ‘dload’ folder into the root directory of your phone micro SD card.

4. Now, turn off your device and then turn it on again and there would be Android Robot on the screen which indicates that the installation process of the ROM has been started successfully. On successful completion of the installation you will get “OK” on the screen.

5. Remove the SD card of the phone after verifying the installation was successful and then press Power button to reboot the device and land onto the latest Android 4.0.3 Ice Cream Sandwich firmware.

Note: If you get a “FAIL” message during the process of installation. Kindly follow the steps again to install the firmware on your device.

Install Cyanogenmod 10 Jelly Bean Update Galaxy S I9000

Forgot about Cyanagenmod 9; it’s time to install Cyanogenmod 10 on Samsung Galaxy S I9000. Here is the tutorial how to Install Cyanogenmod 10 (CM 10) Android 4.1 Jelly Bean Update on Galaxy S I9000. Galaxy S is the Android phone that helped Samsung to gain its top place in the mobile phone market. Samsung Galaxy S owners have enjoyed the Official CM 9 ICS 4.0.4 roms few months ago and now they can enjoy the unofficial Android 4.1 Jelly Bean release. Developers have managed to port Android Jelly Bean to Galaxy S but there are little bugs. Samsung Galaxy S is being the first Single Core Processor device to get the Jelly Bean port. Developers are working to optimize Jelly Bean for Single Core and resolve the bugs but it may take some weeks.

XDA dev forum member mkalter has developed this custom ROM that can be easily flashed to Galaxy S using CWM recovery. There are few more projects working simultaneously to bring stable Jelly Bean roms to Galaxy S. CyanogenMod 10 is under development and it will be the best Jelly Bean custom ROM option for Galaxy S users. Most of the features like Touchscreen, GPU, capacitive keys and hardware keys, Butter Smooth UI, USB port, Wi-Fi, 3G, Bluetooth, Camera and external SD card are working fine. After installing the rom there you can see devil kernel config app. Open it and change the Ram from 377 MB to 403 MB. Google Now virtual voice assistant is fabulous; it recognizes our accent very quickly. Look at below images where I have taken from my device.

Pre-Requisite:

1. All the important data present in your Samsung Galaxy S i9000 must be backup before starting the actual update so that the data won’t be corrupted or lost, which generally happens during any update process. Keeping this in mind, please backup the SMS, Call Logs, Images, Contacts, Videos, Songs, APN and MMS Settings.
2. Required minimum battery charge should be 70%. Less than this won’t be sufficient for you to complete the process successfully.
3. Please disable or uninstall the security suites such as firewall, antivirus or Samsung KIES from your Computer or device to avoid interruption during the update.
4. You also need to Enable the USB Debugging option on your Galaxy S i9000. For that your need to follow the path mentioned - ‘Settings > Applications > Development > USB debugging’ then tick the USB Debugging option.
5. In the beginning, you need to disable the SIM Card Lock on your Galaxy S. For that you need to follow the path Settings > location and Security > Sim card lock and don’t check the tick mark the checkbox.
6. In case, if your Galaxy S is running on Gingerbread or in some older ROM then you need to flash the new update and root it.
7. Make sure that your device must be rooted and install clockworkmod recovery mode. I know most of the users already running custom roms. Most of them are pre-rooted and custom recovery mode on it.

Steps and Procedure to Install and update Samsung Galaxy S i9000 to Android 4.1 Jelly Bean

Step 1. Download below Android 4.1 Jelly Bean firmware Update firmware package and google apps package. Both files are in zip format. No need to extract them.

Rom file cm10_devil-V8.zip from here. file size is 142 Mb
Addon file cm10_addons_devil-V8b.zip from here. size will be 94 MB

Note: Above current version is 8, still they working to get stable JB rom . You come here daily check latest updates of rom files.

2. After downloading them, Connect your device to PC via USB cable. And Copy both files into Phone SD card storage.

3. Then, turn off your Galaxy device to reboot into the custom recovery mode. For which you need to press and hold the Volume Up + Home + Power button together until you see the turn on screen on your device.

4. Once you get into the recovery mode, wipe your data from device by selecting ‘wipe data/factory reset’ and ‘wipe cache Partition’.

5. After the completion of wiping process, select the ‘install zip from SD card’ and then select ‘choose zip from sdcard’ choose the downloaded cm10_devil-V8.zip file from the SD card. It will some time for flashing so be patience.
6. When you flash the rom file. Again, go back to main menu recovery mode. Select “install zip from SD card”, choose Addon file cm10_addons_devil-V8b.zip file this time.

7. Now go to advanced and select the fix permissions option. That’s it if you done above steps correctly then proceed for further step.

8. Select the ‘+++Go Back+++’ option and then select the ‘restart system now’ to reboot your device and enjoy the new Android 4.1 Jelly Bean.

Install Official Android 4.0.4 ICS Update Sony Xperia S LT26i

Tutorial how to install Official Android 4.0.4 ICS Firmware Update on Sony Xperia S LT26i. Sony Xperia S is latest flagship device from Sony. Sony has taken enough care of this device that have launched it with powerful 1.5 GHz Dual core snapdragon processor and recently updated the device with Android ICS 4.0.4 firmware build version 6.1.A.0.452. Sony has giving tough competition to other manufacturers by releasing instant official firmware updates to their all devices globally. The latest ICS 4.0.4 Android firmware brings many bug fixes and new enhancements so it is essential for every Xperia S users. If you missed the over the air OTA update then you can try installing manually without any problems.

Warning: If anything happens to your Sony Xperia S LT26i device either damage or brick during the installation flashing process, we are not responsible for it. Do it at your own risk and follow the guide carefully.

Pre-Requisite:

Steps, Instructions and Procedure with Images. Install Android 4.0.4 Ice cream Sandwich ICS Update Build firmware version 6.1.A.0.453 on Sony Xperia S LT26i Phone. No root is required, No bootloader and unlock is required and it will not void warranty too.

Step 1. Download the above any one of them Android ICS firmware package FTF zipped file into your PC. Extract the zip file by using by either using 7zip or winrar software. After extracting, you will get the LT26i_6.1.A.0.452.ftf and file size will be like 345 MB.

2. After that, you need to download the FlashTool into your PC from here, which is necessary to flash the firmware on your Xperia S device.

3. Install the Flashtool software in PC. Then go to C Drive and open the flashtool folder. There you can see drivers folder. Double click the flashtool-drivers.exe and select the Xperia S in the device list. Click install the compatible usb drivers for your Xperia S.

4. Now Copy the downloaded LT26i_6.1.A.0.452.ftf file into C:/flashtool/firmware. Before copying the ftf file, delete all existing files in the firmware folder. Make sure that only our current ftf package will be in the firmware folder.

5. Go to flashtool folder and Run the flashtool.exe application. A small window will be displayed on the screen with a message “This level is successfully initialized”.
6. Click on left side top flash thunderbolt icon. A little window will be get, which shows two options flashmode and fastboot mode. Select flashmode and click ok to proceed the next step.
7. Select the "LT26 6.1.A.0.452" firmware package at left side column.

8. On right side column you can see option like “wipe user data”. If you selected the option, then your phone data will be deleted like contacts, sms, call log and synchronization. If not selected, then all your previous data will be there in the phone itself. If you need fresh OS installation without any bugs then I recommend you select those options.

9. Click OK. Then you get message in flashtool window like “Preparing files for flashing”.
10. After that, a small pop up window will be open and indicates you to connect the phone in Flashmode. For that turn off the device, Press and hold volume down key, and then connect the phone to PC with USB cable.

11. Release the volume down key when phone’s green led light appears.

12. Flashing process will be start automatically and it will take some time to finish the whole task. Be patience the process will be completed when it reaches 100%.

13. Disconnect the Phone USB cable when the process is finished.

14. Turn on the phone. The first boot will take some time to load.
